Milesight PTZ - SFTP Setup

These instructions guide you through configuring your camera to securely send images to Beacon using SFTP.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • Access to your camera web interface
  • Your Camera Endpoint Username and Password from the Beacon dashboard
  • Your device name or manual device ID from Beacon

Step 1: Log in to the camera

  1. Log in to your camera through its web interface.
  2. Click the gear icon to open Settings.

Step 2: Configure the device name

  1. In the settings menu, select System.
  2. Click System Settings.
  3. Open the System Info tab.
  4. Enter the Device Name.

Device name rules:

  • Must not contain spaces
  • Must exactly match the device name or manual device ID used in Beacon
  1. Click Save.

Step 3: Open network settings

  1. From the left-hand menu, select Network.
  2. Click Basic.
  3. Select the FTP tab.

Step 4: Configure TCP/IP

  1. Configure the Preferred DNS Server
  2. Defualt is 8.8.8.8
    • If Device is using Verison Router Change Preferred DNS Server to 192.168.0.1

Step 5: Configure FTP Storage Settings

Under FTP Storage Settings:

  1. Set Storage Path to Child Directory.
  2. Enable Customize for the parent directory and enter:
    • aws-transfer-ftp-bucket
  3. Enable Customize again and enter:
    • images
  4. Leave all remaining settings at default values.

Step 6: Configure FTP Storage Settings

Under FTP Storage Settings:

  1. Set Storage Path to Child Directory.
  2. Enable Customize for the parent directory and enter:
    • aws-transfer-ftp-bucket
  3. Enable Customize again and enter:
    • images
  4. Leave all remaining settings at default values.

Step 7: Configure snapshot File Name

  1. Select the Traffic page
  2. Select the LPR page
  3. Select the advanced tab at the top of the web page
  4. Under the Snapshot file name select the settings shown in the image below
    • Separator _
    • Plate
      • License plate
      • Plate Type
    • Others
      • Time
      • Device ID
  5. The items of the file name need to be in the following order
    • Time YYYY-MM-DD
    • Device ID (enter the device ID given by Beacon)
    • License plate
    • Plate type

Step 8: Configure Alarm Action

  1. Select the List Event tab
  2. Select Vistor as your List type
  3. Check the snapshot box
  4. Select Full Snapshot for Snapshot Type
  5. Under Linkage select the following
    • Save to Storage
    • Upload via FTP
